Around 8:00 AM, our team will meet you at your accommodation in Marrakech to begin your journey into the majestic High Atlas Mountains. As we leave the city behind, you will travel through winding mountain roads and pass through charming Berber villages. We will pause along the way to take in panoramic views, capture stunning photos, and admire the centuries-old stone houses nestled into the hillsides. We will continue deeper into the mountains, where snow-capped peaks, flowing rivers, and lush valleys create breathtaking scenery. You will enjoy a traditional Berber lunch in a local village—a perfect way to taste the flavors of the region. By afternoon, we will reach the beautiful village of Imlil, the gateway to Toubkal National Park. Enjoy a guided hike through the surrounding trails, dotted with terraced fields, waterfalls, and small hamlets.

We will stop for a peaceful riverside lunch, allowing you to soak in the natural surroundings and the sound of flowing water. We will stop for lunch in a local village, giving you more time to soak in the culture and countryside. By mid-afternoon, arrive in the Agafay Desert—a unique rocky desert with panoramic views and golden tones, offering a calm and surreal alternative to the Sahara. Set out on a sunset camel ride across the arid landscape, as the setting sun paints the sky in shades of gold and crimson. In the evening, gather around the campfire at your luxury desert camp for a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars. Enjoy Berber music, storytelling, and the serenity of the desert night.

Do I need to be physically fit for the hikes on this tour?
The hikes in Imlil and the Ourika Valley are moderate and can be tailored to your pace. You are walking through villages and valleys rather than doing intense mountain climbing, making it suitable for most fitness levels.
Why stay two nights in Imlil instead of moving to a new hotel every night?
Staying two nights in Imlil gives you a relaxed pace. It allows you to deeply experience the mountain lifestyle without having to pack and unpack daily, while still taking a full-day excursion to the Ourika Valley.
How is the Agafay Desert different from the Sahara Desert?
The Agafay Desert is a rocky, lunar-like desert located only 30km from Marrakech, whereas the Sahara (like Merzouga) has massive sand dunes and requires a 7-8 hour drive. Agafay is perfect for a short, peaceful desert experience without the long travel time.
Is the desert camp in Agafay comfortable?
Yes, despite being a rocky desert, the Agafay luxury camps are well-equipped with comfortable beds, proper bathroom facilities, and dining areas, ensuring a cozy and authentic night under the stars.
