At 8:00 AM, our team will meet you at your accommodation in Marrakech to begin your adventure through the southwest of Morocco. Drive through the High Atlas Mountains, taking in the breathtaking scenery and stopping for photos of panoramic landscapes and traditional Berber villages. After about 2 hours, arrive in Agadir, a modern coastal city known for its relaxed atmosphere, beautiful beaches, and contemporary vibe. From Agadir, continue 30 minutes to the laid-back surf village of Taghazout, where you will enjoy a relaxing lunch with ocean views. The afternoon is yours to enjoy optional activities including surfing, paddleboarding, a sunset camel ride, an ATV dune adventure, or simply relaxing on the beach.
Overnight stay in Taghazout.
After breakfast, explore Agadir’s cultural and historical highlights. Visit the reconstructed Medina of Agadir, designed by artist Coco Polizzi, featuring artisan shops and traditional crafts. Next, head to Souk El Had, one of Morocco’s largest markets, bustling with fresh produce, spices, textiles, and handmade goods. Take a peaceful walk through Jardin d’Olhao, a garden inspired by Agadir’s Portuguese history. Enjoy a seafood lunch by the ocean, and spend the afternoon enjoying leisure or adventure activities such as a camel ride on the beach, an ATV dune tour, or surfing. End the day with a visit to the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella, a hilltop fortress offering panoramic views of the bay, port, and city, perfect for sunset photos.
Overnight stay in Taghazout.
After breakfast, head north along the scenic Atlantic coast. Stop at Aghroud, famously known as the “Village of Colors.” This hidden gem features vibrantly painted homes and narrow alleys full of character, making it a great place for photography and experiencing authentic village life. Continue your journey through rolling hills and ocean views to Essaouira, a charming coastal town with a unique blend of Moroccan, Portuguese, and French influences. Upon arrival, visit Skala de la Ville, a seaside fortress with historic cannons and breathtaking ocean views. Explore the UNESCO-listed medina, known for its blue-and-white walls and artisan shops. Enjoy lunch at the Essaouira fish market, where you can choose your own seafood to be freshly prepared. Spend the afternoon visiting the vibrant port with its iconic blue boats, relaxing on the beach, or wandering the medina.
Overnight stay in a riad within the Essaouira Medina.
Enjoy a peaceful breakfast with ocean views, followed by free time to stroll the medina or relax by the beach. Before departure, enjoy a final seaside lunch in one of Essaouira’s charming restaurants. En route to Marrakech, stop at a traditional argan oil cooperative, where you will learn about the traditional oil-making process and have the chance to purchase locally made products. Arrive back in Marrakech by early evening, where our team will drop you off at your hotel, riad, or the airport.
Is Taghazout a good place for beginner surfers?
Yes, Taghazout is famous worldwide for being a surf haven that caters to all levels. There are plenty of surf schools and gentle beach breaks perfect for beginners, as well as more challenging waves for experienced surfers.
Why do we stay two nights in Taghazout instead of Agadir?
While Agadir is a larger, modern resort city, Taghazout offers a much more authentic, relaxed, and charming coastal village atmosphere. Staying in Taghazout gives you easy access to Agadir’s sights while allowing you to sleep in a quieter, more scenic environment.
What exactly will we see at the “Village of Colors”?
Aghroud is a traditional Moroccan village where the local homes and walls are painted in vibrant, contrasting colors. It is a highly photogenic stop that offers a peaceful look into local life away from the main tourist hubs.
Can I buy pure argan oil at the cooperative?
Yes, the argan oil cooperative you visit on the way back to Marrakech is an authentic, women-run cooperative. You will see the traditional extraction process and can safely purchase high-quality, pure argan oil for cooking or cosmetic use directly from the source.
